It's My Anniversary! 1 year at Micro Focus

Today marks one year since I joined Micro Focus and I can't believe how much I've done in such a short time. I started writing blogs and looking for case studies, then led the company's messaging and strategy at the AWS re:Invent conference and the announcement of the AWS Mainframe Modernization and now I've taken leadership of the product marketing team. That's a whole lot to fit in one year! Here are just a few highlights of my first year.

1. My first blog stretched the limits of what Micro Focus typically published, but Derek Britton said he supported me doing things "the Misty way" and that's why he hired me. Transforming Mainframe Apps - From Tired to Wired | Micro Focus Community
2. Worked with a fabulous team to announce a new release of Micro Focus Enterprise Suite in partnership with Ed Airey who was announcing the new release of Visual COBOL. Enterprise Suite 7.0: Mainframe Applications at Scale | Micro Focus Community
3. Much of my first year was spent on the announcement of the AWS Mainframe Modernization service which features Micro Focus products. This included an actual trip to an in-person conference, AWS re:Invent! Modernization and AWS | Micro Focus

5. Had an article published in Information freaking Week!! Harness Your Heritage: Building an IT Future on Past Success (informationweek.com)
6. Another very fun webinar with Gary Evans. We planned a roundtable conversation without slides but found out last minute we couldn't share webcams with this webinar tool, so we quickly made slides with lots of personal photos just to make it fun! 7. I joined the Open Mainframe Project's COBOL Working Group, mentored students Sudhanshu Dubey and Josh Fogus on their mainframe modernization and COBOL projects and recently was elected to the Open Mainframe Project's Governing Board.
8. I not only spoke at SHARE conferences, but I won a best speaker award!

I could share so much more - it's been an amazing first year! But by far, the best part has been all of the friends I've made. To a person, everyone I've worked with has been very kind and supportive. I already feel quite close to so many people here at Micro Focus, even though I have met very few of them in person. I can't wait to see what my second year is like. I already have some really big plans in the works!!
