It's not the monkey bars; it's the monkey.

It's not the monkey bars; it's the monkey.

It is January 5, 2022 and I am on day 5 of COVID recovery. Happy New Years everyone!

Have you ever had one of those revelations that was just too good not to share? Our son Will broke his arm in early November requiring surgery, pins, and several full arm casts. He broke it falling from the monkey bars at school. Several good-intentioned friends asked me if I was going to ask the school to remove the monkey bars because this "happens every year". My response was a quick, "No! It's not the monkey bars, it's the monkey!"

We all have the tendency to blame our circumstances on things that are out of our control, right?

  • I'm in debt because I don't earn enough money.
  • I'm overweight because I travel for work and eat out a lot.
  • I'm stressed out because....of all of the above.

A new year is a perfect time for a new perspective and a pivot towards regaining control of "the monkey". Let's all take a few steps in right direction this new year.

I hope you all have a blessed and prosperous 2022!

Great perspective Rodney. We have been dealing with COVID in our house also. Sorry to hear you all are also dealing with it but glad to hear you are recovering.
