It’s Mango Time

Mango season is more than just a time of the year – it’s a celebration of memories and emotions. Growing up in a place where mangoes are abundant, the arrival of the season was always something to look forward to. We had a giant mango tree in the backyard that seemed to bear an endless supply of the juiciest, most flavorful mangoes. I remember how my parents would send baskets full of these golden delights across to other sharing the joy of mango season with everyone.

The love for mangoes has only grown since then. Recently, I visited a restaurant where they offered something truly special – a mango thali. Every dish in the thali had mango as its star ingredient, from mango rice to a refreshing mango drink, from a tangy mango curry to a delectable mango dessert. What struck me was how each dish had its own unique flavor profile, yet mango remained the hero, tying everything together.

Mangoes aren’t just something I enjoy as a consumer; they’ve also become an integral part of my professional life. As a retailer, the mango season is a time of excitement and creativity. The store becomes a vibrant celebration of mangoes, with mango trees adorned with hanging fruits, creating a magical atmosphere.. The air is filled with the sweet scent of mangoes, and the energy is palpable as everyone works together to make the most of this short but sweet season.

Mangoes also bring people together in unexpected ways. There’s a theatre group that hosts a Mango Festival every year. It’s not just an event, but a true celebration of the fruit. Each participant brings a kilo of mangoes, which are then shared and enjoyed in all their different varieties.The festival also includes a fun mango quiz, and the café at the venue even has a special mango menu, ensuring the mango experience is complete.

Mango season is more than just a time to savor the fruit. It’s a time for connection, creativity, and celebration – a season that brings people together in ways both familiar and new. Whether as a consumer, a retailer, or a participant in these vibrant mango-themed events, mangoes are an emotion that ties everything together, creating a sense of joy that lingers long after the season ends.
