‘It’s about making the world a little brighter’
This is one of a series of stories - which we are calling Community Matters - by Enbridge Gas employees talking about why they volunteer to help communities and community groups in Ontario.
This is Kyle Cooper’s story.
Competitive sports have been a significant part of my life, teaching me valuable lessons about teamwork, dedication, and perseverance.
However, beyond the thrill of competition, I’ve found a deeper passion - giving back to my community.
Growing up, my parents were deeply involved in the hockey community, participating in events such as bingos, bake sales, and coaching.
Their dedication instilled in me the importance of community engagement and showed me that contributing to your community is not just a duty but a privilege.
As a father of twin girls, I strive to lead by example. I want to show them, and others, the importance of kindness and helping those in need. Volunteering offers a unique sense of fulfillment, from the joy of making a difference to the growth that comes from new experiences and connections
.
I am proud to serve as the co-chair of the United Way for Enbridge Gas in London. This role has increased my commitment to community service and shown me the incredible impact we can have when we work together.
Meeting new people through volunteering has enriched my life, teaching me about resilience, kindness, and the power of compassion.
Ultimately, I volunteer because it aligns with my core values and enhances my life in immeasurable ways. It’s about making the world a little brighter, one act of kindness at a time.
