It’s not about luck: 5 tips that will harness your positivity

Helping the retired, the redundant and the divorced to regain their confidence, reconnect with who they are and silence their inner critic so they can navigate life with certainty
POV: I do not believe in luck. I have to stop myself from reacting, yes I said it reacting, when I hear someone say ‘you’re so lucky’.
To me, putting positive outcomes down to luck is a complete disregard for the efforts anyone invests in getting to where they’ve got. This is why I feel a surge of frustration whenever I hear people talk about how lucky they are or how lucky someone else might be.
In reality, no one is truly ‘lucky’. It’s not a matter of chance. It’s about having the determination to make things happen. It’s about having a positive attitude.
It’s not about waiting for someone to wave a magic wand that changes your life. It’s not about being in the right place at the right time. It’s not about hoping for someone else to fulfil your dreams.
It’s easy to sit back and let life unfold without any effort. It requires no exertion and you don’t need to think. Then when things go awry, you have the convenience of blaming others.
The fact is, we are all accountable for our actions, or if you decide to do nothing your inactions. By choosing to do nothing, you’re still making a decision. Whether you acknowledge it or not, you’ve opted to remain inactive. Consequently, whatever follows is a result of your decision to do nothing. So, blaming others isn’t justified.?
This is why I insist there’s no such thing as luck. It’s all about mindset. It’s about our perception of life. It’s about our perspective.
Consider this, how would you feel if someone attributed your progress to mere luck? Wouldn’t that belittle all the hard work you’ve put in? Similarly, doesn’t calling someone unlucky validate their lack of action?
If you want change, stop waiting for luck to come your way and take action to create it, now.?
So, if it’s not luck, what is it?
Positive Attitude
This might seem simplistic and yet it’s true. It’s about having a positive outlook on life and seeking the positive in situations. Believe me when I say, it has a profound impact on the outcomes we achieve.
If you dwell in negativity, then all you will notice is the negative.
However, if you choose a positive mindset, you’ll be amazed at the opportunities that appear. You’ll find it easier to move forward and everything will become much clearer.

Inner Motivation
Before seeking external help, start with yourself. I encourage you to cultivate your inner cheerleader, which requires continuous practice by the way. Much like a muscle, the more we practise and train ourselves, the easier it becomes.
It’s about knowing you can. Then believing you can. Then taking action to prove that you can.
Having Direction
It starts with figuring out what you want and need. You might think you don’t know. The truth is, you do. We all do. It’s just a matter of bringing it to the surface.
Once you realise what it is, this will prevent you from aimlessly going around in circles.
Taking Action
Starting is always the hardest part. So, take it one step at a time. It’s all about taking that initial step, regardless of its size, otherwise you’ll remain stuck.?
Supportive Community
Although being your own cheerleader is important, having people around you who genuinely support you will magnify that. It’s not about surrounding yourself with those who always agree with you. It’s about having individuals who sincerely want you to succeed and will be honest with you around you.
So, it’s not about luck. It’s about you. The choices you make and the actions you take.
Wouldn’t you prefer to have control over what happens next?
