After a summer full of peak moments, I’m eager to get back to work as a CMO for a company in emerging tech/media – to apply my 25+ years of experience and expertise in amplifying brands and accelerating business growth.?

To launch the search, I am reintroducing myself …

I came to the US from Norway on a swim scholarship to study business. My drive to compete in and out of the water has fueled my passions and professional life ever since. Today, I help Fortune 500 tech/media companies and category pioneers to compete and grow by building and leading diverse, high-performance teams that deliver customer and shareholder value through peak marketing excellence.

Over the years, I have become a CMO with a CEO mindset. I’m attracted to complex challenges that require strategic/system thinking and teamwork across functions. My roles at Malwarebytes , Verizon , 雅虎 , Rocket Works (AI) Acceleration Intelligence , 泰为 /Scout, 微软 /Bing/ Tellme Networks , 美国在线 Time Warner, Netscape Communications , and MSNBC /NBC required creating order out of chaos. In all roles, I have consistently increased reach, retention, revenue, and resource impact as the CMO / head of marketing for both public and private companies – and have often been promoted into GM roles.

As a growth-minded executive, entrepreneur, athlete, and coach, I have consistently performed at the highest levels and sought to bring out the best in people. As a people-first marketing leader, I build best-of-breed practices and programs. As a disciplined brand steward, I ensure that we 'walk the talk' on the brand across all customer touchpoints and experiences – enabled by empathy and a strong culture that knows customers by heart. As a digital marketing veteran, I’m an early adopter of state-of-the-art modern tools to find and remove friction across the customer journey.

I make unfit products fit. In sports, you always start where you are and grow from there. I diagnose fitness and friction to glean insights from the entire customer journey. I specialize in developing deep data-driven human/customer insights, competitive intelligence, and product innovation with purpose for people’s daily lives – and infusing customer benefits and competitive differentiation into full-funnel growth strategies that inspire teams and resonate with customers.

Everything I do starts with people: customers, employees, and empathy for everyone, inclusive of everyone across functions. I have learned from my coaches and mentors how to create high-performing teams to get things done with integrity, creativity, grit, and a growth mindset. I recruit the best athletes for each position, align teams towards a common vision/goal, lean into and leverage diversity and unique strengths, and create high-performance teams that enable and empower everyone to excel and do their best work – together. I invest deeply in people and pride myself on identifying and championing high-potential people, ensuring my leaders thrive and grow (e.g. two recent direct reports were hired as first-time CMOs).

As a disciplined athlete I have learned how to set goals, visualize success, create commitment, persist and work through pain and problems, learn from experiments and errors, leverage superpowers and unique strengths, and use metrics/feedback to get better with each day, workout, race, and milestone. I always find ways to improve, grow, excel, and win!
