It’s not just business…for Victoria Watts, it’s definitely personal

There’s something unique in the DNA of entrepreneurs, Victoria Watts among them. So when she was frustrated in her search for skincare products to address her hyperpigmentation and stress-related skin conditions, she did what entrepreneurs do: she made her own. Months of mixing and blending essential oils and botanical extracts turned into Victorialand Beauty, a line of good-for-you skincare products that have proven to be so effective she can now “go naked” without layers of makeup. In fact “Go Naked” has become the anthem for the brand.

But just as the company was off and running, Victoria was presented with another challenge, one far more critical than the condition of her skin. Her son Cyrus was born with a rare disease that has resulted in significant and, at the moment, irreversible, visual impairment.

Out of this heartbreak, Victoria found a new calling. She contemplated how the adult Cyrus would navigate the world and her thoughts turned to packaging, something she knew a lot about. Her eureka moment came in watching her toddler “see” by touching. She thought, “what about putting some type of tactile recognition on our packaging so that someone that is visually impaired and blind can pick up the products and know that this is my face cream, this is my eye cream, this is my shaving cream and gain some independence?”

Cut to today and C-Y-R-U-S, a Raised Universal Symbols System that Victoria is developing for use on any consumer product. This beauty entrepreneur is helping to make the world more accessible for the over 300 million people with some kind of visual impairment. She sums up her mission, “knowing we can make a positive change for so many people...I can't even describe how that feels.” Don’t miss her full story.
