It's A Jungle Out There...So Much to Learn

You’ve built a website, or had it built, you’ve optimized it and have a product or service to sell. What do you do now?

There are so many avenues, so many valuable connections out there that will help you greatly, cost you lots of money or even scam you. This is why a relationship with who you connect with is important.

First, you can build rapport and learn about your connection over time. When they ask for money quickly and limit your time to decide, you should probably wait and find out from forums, etc. the validity of the offer versus the cost.

Welcome To The Jungle: Proceed with Caution

It really is a jungle out there, so many great and beneficial things to find but also a lot of dangerous creatures so travel wisely, a great weapon to carry is knowledge, questioning everything, asking others with experience and reading forums about people who have used the service you are thinking of investing in.

I have sold many paintings online that have never turned into a real sale. There is a scam for everything, someone wants to buy your painting. They will have a very vague price they are willing to pay-from 500-5000 and they are less concerned with the cost versus your action.

The sale is always in the very near future for a wedding, etc. They will not be able to tell you what painting they specifically want nor how they found you.

Next, they will offer to handle their own shipping, a big red flag, all you do is look this one up. You can literally copy the email you get and paste it to google, the exact same language will come up as a scam that other people have received.

They truly play on your ego, but they aren’t even original. It is easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated but don’t be too afraid, after a while the scammers show themselves.

Now that we have scammers out of the way, let’s talk about knowledge. There are so many avenues, plug-ins, professionals, courses and bootcamps that will help you on your path.

So Many Avenues to Learn the Tools You Need to Succeed

I am impressed with the ones that simply plant a seed but then they are on to the next possible client. They offer their service or knowledge, and you are under no obligation nor are you pressured into choosing quickly.

If someone says you must decide while on the phone, say thanks but no thanks. A valuable product or service is made available to clients that need it, they will follow you, find you when they truly decide to invest in you.

I sold insurance for a period and learned about the psychology of the sale and pressing the client to act. I believe in giving potential clients your information and leaving them with a seed, I don’t want their business if they feel pressured into the sale, I want them to find me and be excited about doing business with me.

This is where time and integrity come in. It takes time to build a reputation and every client matters-treat every possible client with the same dignity and respect you would hope a person selling something would offer you.

Smartest Ones in the Jungle-Seek and Learn

It is important to learn from professionals who have been in the same position you are, they have already invested the time and learned the hard lessons. We learn from standing on the shoulders of those who’ve come before us and have made the mistakes we don’t want to make ourselves.

This is where you put your ego away and learn everything you can. There is plenty of free information as well as paid. I have been excited about a free zoom meeting with a professional and when you ask a question-they say pay for the program. In my opion, they’ve not just lost a possible future client, but they’ve lost a connection.

Time and expertise are important and should be valued, there is a line where the would-be client is asking for the course for free but at times a little bit of TLC would forge a relationship that may find other clients from one who they took the time to speak to and showed they didn’t only want to sell a course, they wanted to help someone.

My next post is about optimizing a website-so many hurdles to jump.
