Achievement motivation is a type of intrinsic motivation that drives people to pursue and achieve specific goals because they have the desire to do so. In other words, those who are motivated by achievement do something because they enjoy the process, rather than doing it for a reward at the end.
Examples of achievement-based motivation include:
Those who are driven by achievement motivation are typically self-motivated, and the ‘reward’ that this type of motivation gives is largely internal. This is because anyone who is motivated by achievement is subsequently motivated by the idea of seeming or feeling competent.
