It’s Impossible, Don’t Even Bother
A self-improvement short story from the third book of Nabil N. Jamal, 'HARVESTS OF CHANGE'. My book contains 80 short stories, and it is available direct from me: email: [email protected], mobile: +(961) 3.30.30.38 (Lebanon).
THE STORY:
An army of frogs was hopping through the woods one day, when two of them accidentally fell into a deep pit of mud.
When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they shouted to those two that it was impossible for them to get out of the pit, and that they shouldn’t even bother trying because they are surely going to drown in the mud.
The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump and climb up out of the pit with all their might, but the other frogs repeated their shouts to stop, that it was useless, and that they were as good as dead.
Finally, one of the two gave up and drowned in the mud.
The other frog continued to jump and climb up as hard as he could until he eventually made it out of the pit. He then thanked each of the other frogs for their continued ‘encouragement’, that without it, he would have surely given up as his friend did. He added that although he did not hear their words because he was deaf, none-the-less, he was truly thankful for their encouraging shouts that kept him trying against all odds.
THE TAKEAWAY:
The deaf frog survived because he interpreted the army of frogs’ shouts as cries of encouragement. Had he understood that their cries were for him to surrender, he wouldn’t have exerted such an effort to thrive.
So, ignore those who bring you down and demotivate you; don’t give them your ear. Listen only to those who energise you to succeed; their encouragement will motivate you to persist and accomplish what others see as difficult or even impossible.
In your turn, please support you’re the ones you care for to the fullest; make a real difference, help them in any way you can to let them achieve every positive thing they aim for.
