It's here! Introducing Made Talent!

Made Talent is a new recruitment business that has landed on the shores of Bristol, supporting businesses UK wide across the Tech for Good space.

We interviewed Chris Walker who is the Managing Director and founder of Made on what the new venture stands for and why he is so excited to be the new kid on the block!

Where did the idea for Made come from? Why does it exist?

Made Talent is the result of our passion and dedication to create a recruitment business that focuses on the Tech for Good space. Our business name “MADE” literally stands for making a difference in enterprise.

We work with profit-purpose driven businesses to help them scale, strategically hire into certain tech verticals or deliver key projects and services effectively in a talent short market. All the businesses we work with have a product service or outcome which improves the world around us or the people in it.

So you could say, we literally make a difference in enterprise by helping these businesses hire top tech talent powered by applying their skills for good.

What does “Tech for Good” actually mean?

Tech for Good is not a sector per se, it is more a movement which drives behaviours and outcomes and exists across many industries – all our clients carry positive impacts on health, the environment, climate, finance, energy and much more. All these areas are showing high growth and cut across profit and non-profit sectors.

Our foundation is based on the theory of engagement and community building, not just CV databases and lists of candidates. We operate a unique methodology and invest in a unique tech stack for consultants. We believe we are breeding the right cultural behaviours within our business and communities which allow our clients a fresh, engaged talent pool to recruit from.

Culture is important to Made, isn’t it?

Culture is super important to us and we want to replicate the values we live by externally, internally. We have also spent enough time in the recruitment industry to know that it can be both the most rewarding and the most challenging of careers.

We are interested in attracting a certain type of person to our workforce, too. It’s not a case of needing to “fit in” though. We want diversity and we champion individuality as this, we believe, brings creativeness to the business.

When we do hire, we make a commitment to that person and of course we expect commitment in return. But in my experience not enough companies truly commit to the very end when hiring in recruitment – thus the revolving door is continually spinning for some of our competitors. So we operate a continual L&D platform for self-growth ?and adopted a truly best in class benefits package for employee wellbeing.

All this is just a small part of what drives our culture of high performance, fun and loyalty.

What has the first few months been like as an incubator start up and what plans are set for the future??

We started in January 2022 as an interim brand within the powerful Sanderson group which gave us a platform to grow quickly in headcount and tool up with large resource artillery. We have listened to our clients across large tech, consultancy and start ups so have built recruitment solutions which directly meet their challenges.

We have helped people into new careers every month since inception and with healthy growth we are now focused on taking the business forward in the run up to 2023. We are set on doubling headcount by early ’23 and being recognised as the go-to recruiter in the tech for good space. ?

Our grand plan includes the addition of specialist tech for good ecosystems offering our candidates career partnership across multiple markets in Tech for Good.

From there? Short of world domination, we believe we could blue print the business internationally!

What’s the most important thing to you as MD of Made Talent?

People, hands down. Build people, and you build a business. We want brilliant recruiters to join us and see how rewarding recruitment can be in our world. We want people that either want a different market message or want to cut their teeth in fast paced, dynamic business but within a supportive and friendly environment. We want our people to be happy, as happy people do good work. We have a philosophy of choosing who we work with, which is a powerful mental shift in recruitment. We believe our people will make the right decisions for the business.

Final word?

At the end of the day we just want to help people and help businesses do more good, and our way of contributing is helping the tech for good talent match-making process.
