It's not hard, it's just new

It's not hard, it's just new

It's not hard, it's just new.?

How often do you tell yourself that things are too hard, you can't do it, you're overwhelmed, worried that you'll fail, worried that you'll look silly??

When we do anything new, we just don't know how, do we? We don't know if we're going to be any good at it. We don't know if we're going to fail. We don't know if we're going to be an absolute natural. But the brain catastrophises because it would rather stay the same than risk it, and that's why a lot of the time you are not getting out of your own way. That's why you're stuck. That's why you're doing the same stuff - even if it's a bit painful, even if it doesn't serve you - you will continue to do the same stuff day in, day out.?

They say that 80% of the thoughts we have are the same every day, and yet we've got such a capacity to think different things, be different people, experience different things; but we stay stuck. So if this is you, this is why - it's normal. And you'll say, “Thank God, Vivienne”, breathe a big sigh of relief and think, I'm normal.?

A lot of the things that your brain is saying no, no, no to, is because it doesn't understand that it's just new. So instead of telling yourself you can't do it, it's scary, it's hard; it's not hard, it's new!

Anything we do that's new, typically is a bit hard, especially if it's worth it. So if you're doing something that's new and it's worth it, you might find it a bit hard. This is the next-level stuff. This is about saying to yourself, “My next level doesn't think this is hard. My next level will get used to this really, really quickly. The next level version of me will become fabulous at this”.?

I look at all the business tasks I now just don't even think about - creating these kind of talks, videos, creating text, creating events, creating retreats, one-to-one coaching. I’ve been doing these for 10 years now and I don't even think about them. They're just my normal. But at one time, I was terrified.?

I remember the first time I ran a big event and I had to spend most of my time ‘future pacing’ the outcome, living in that event, just in my head to make sure I'd thought of every eventuality, and in the end, I hadn't! It snowed, and actually, I hadn't thought about snow on 1 March 2018! But what happened? I coped. It was new, it was exciting, we had fun, We all teamed together and it was probably the best event I've run to date because of the energy of it.?

So it's not hard, it's just new. If it's hard, it means you probably want it. If you're still trying, it means it's desperately, desperately important. And if you need some help to understand your mind around things, then reach out and book a one-to-one call with me because I'm really happy to help you with this.
