“If it's going to be a challenge, I’ll take it” - Catalin's journey at Travix

Catalin’s story is a story of constant learning and adapting. He started working at Travix during his Bachelor’s studies in Berlin, in Customer Service, and remained with the company ever since. From changing roles, to changing offices and countries; he has been on an interesting journey for the past eight years.

Let’s rewind: Catalin and I meet in the cafeteria of the Travix Amsterdam office, located on the 17th floor of a glass building that offers an incredible view of the city while you enjoy your lunch. We sit down in a corner with comfy brown leather couches and start to chat. Catalin tells me that he relocated from Berlin to Amsterdam when he switched roles from Customer Service to the Air team, where he learned a lot about the technical complexity of the online platform. After some time, he moved on to the Fraud & Payments team, looking to develop his skill set further. Since last year, he is where he always wanted to be: the Industrial Relations Team, where he deals directly with Airlines and Travel Partners, negotiating contracts and developing campaign and sales opportunities. About his many roles within the company Catalin says: “In Customer Service, you learn how to listen and you learn how to adapt your behavior based on who is sitting across the table from you. In the Air team, I learned the ins and outs of the Travix flight platform [...] and in Payments, I think that is where I developed my analytical skills.” He says this mix of people skills and analytical skills is very useful for his current role.?

Apart from the career and learning opportunities, what Catalin values the most about working at Travix is the people. He is also part of the “FUN Team”, responsible for organizing social events for the company. The team consists of employees from as many different departments as possible, to be inclusive and bring different people together in a relaxed atmosphere after work. Being among international colleagues is where Catalin thrives, he loves learning about other people’s mindsets and cultures and moreover he feels like he has made some meaningful connections at work: “You kind of have your home away from home.”??
