It's Election Day - Get Out and Vote!

It's Election Day - Get Out and Vote!

It is Election Day here in Connecticut and across much of the country.  There is often less attention on elections that do not include a presidential race. It is unfortunate because so many important decisions are made by locally elected officials.

This year, Kentucky and Mississippi are holding gubernatorial elections. Twelve states are holding state legislative elections, and there are many other elections for judgeships, municipal officials, school board members, and other seats. I applaud those who have put themselves forward and worked hard to get their message out. There is a lot of thankless work in politics, and we should pause and thank those involved.

In addition, I encourage everyone to check to see if there is an election where you live today. Spend some time making sure you understand the local issues and where the candidates stand on them. Then, get out and vote. The health of our communities depends on people taking informed action. Please do your part, get out and vote.
