And it's done...

When I was contemplating writing my second book, I needed to find a subject that would be interesting for me to write and something that would be valuable to the reader.

I mean, why buy a book if it doesn't present you with something new, some helpful advice or a different view?

I reflected on my first book - "In One Piece" which in itself was a cathartic exercise that helped me understand the process of writing and to decide whether I wanted to try this again.

Needless to say, here I am with my second book with the editor for its final review before getting ready for print and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.

When I write, it is important for me to "find my voice", by this I mean to truly believe in what I am writing about, digging down deep and ensuring that every aspect of what I am saying stays true to me.

My next book reflects this.

I originally wanted to document my time as a professional singer and my career change as I thought this was interesting - this is where the original working title was born - "From Singer to CIO"

As I progressed along the journey, I realized that what I wanted to write about wasn't only about the challenge of pivoting from one major career choice to another (which in itself is huge), it was knowing when to do it?

During the last year things started to come together and I realized that each chapter urged the reader to think about where they are now in their careers:

• Are they where they want to be?
• Are they finding joy in their job?
• Are they adding value?

Then to think about when to make a change. When to advance and how to progress to the next state.

When is the right time? Only you will know, but when you know, you know, don't you?

You can feel it in your bones and when you know this as a certainty, then it's time.

After months of deliberating the book title presented itself. In the same way as my career transformation, so many years ago.

I am pleased to announce the title of my new book:

When now, means NOW! - A handbook for career change, advancement and progression

What is on the label is in the can, as my old marketing boss would say.

Knowing when the time is right is the first step, then knowing how to make this your reality is the next.

As I prepare for the publishing process once again, I am elated that my second book is done.

Watch this space, as I show off the cover art designs which I hope to be ready soon. I will definitely need the support of my LinkedIn crew to help me decide the best design.

Then it will be time for launching which I am looking at April/May. Unlike 2020 where I was only able to do virtual events, this year I will have in person events too.

I can't wait to share this new book with you. It has been another labor of love and I am very proud of it.
