It’s the Context, Intelligent!
Shriram Parthasarathy
Operate at the intersection of technology, marketing, media, storytelling and inclusive being!
“Context” is core to our existence, life, and everything. It’s the same context that holds a ‘trend’ to the ground, as well as evolves with it. And whatever we’re seeing in the field of technology, is just this shift in, and spotlight on context. There are 3 instances in my recent, and not that distant past, where I witnessed this up close and personal.
Search never goes on a holiday
Drifting to yesterday morning, it was 6:30AM on the clock, and I was chatting with Bing. Yes, chatting, not searching. I was asking Bing to suggest a few places in a particular city to stay in, during what I’m hoping for it to be a vacation in the near future.
It threw up a lovely little summary, and I followed it up with what are some other things 1 can do, or the places one can visit around these places. In the first instance, I used the name of the city, in the 2nd, I didn’t. But the context stayed on in my chat, and it gave me results from the same context (city). Now, think of a discussion between 2 people in human language. When uninterrupted you still hang on to the same conversation. Now draw out that conversation on a large landscape with multiple people conversing, creating data footprints, which in turn are modelled for different contexts, only to play it all back to us, while called for, in different times, and under different contexts. Yes, I booked the first place out of the 7 recommendations that was summarised for me by Bing. But that’s outside the context of that specific chat.
The future of creativity is divided, agreeable and safe

Last evening, I happened to be in the audience at the curtain raiser of?Goafest?2023, where ChatGPT already won the award for the most conversed trend, even before the awards season lands on the sands of Goa, India. But it was refreshing to see how creators are thinking of AI – As a copilot, and a tool to augment human intelligence. However, questions still have to exist, there are still places for the masters of the obvious, and there’s always room for scratching the surface. The context of productivity is shifting with the advancements in AI. ‘Generative AI’ is advancing the context to unlock more productivity, build newer skills and in turn empower the creators to be more creative. One of the speakers said it well when he stepped back to look at the entire creative process and placed AI in the context of where it’d fit the best. It reminded me of hiring individuals for different roles. It’s the same alignment of what technology can do, with where it can be put to the best use, and where it’ll deliver the most optimum results. In the sea of prompt engineers, the throne of the most creative version of yourself is still up for grabs.
Paradigm Shift can never be ‘”Was”, it’ll always will be
This day, last year, we’d launched Paradigm Shift, A podcast series that brought about the application of AI across different industries and scenarios. From climate change, to sport, to Agriculture, to innovating responsibly, with more episodes around healthcare, biodiversity, and language translation, the context of the podcast was not just to throw light on what AI can do, but how AI is continuing to transform the context for every individual in different walks of life. Today, the pace of understanding that context has paced up. In every forum, each one of us is trying to be relevant by being abreast with the new applications that are built with the further democratization of AI. What came early – Paradigm Shift the podcast, or paradigm shift the phrase and the phenomenon? In my view, neither. They continue to play the context of different times to perfection.
So, England’s got a new king, will Diamonds be forever, the film Gladiator has turned 23, May the 4th never go out of trend. The context always evolves, just like technology. So, what’s your context that you’re trying to shape with technology today? While you chew on that, keep your ears hooked to Charlie Parker.

1 年Loved the perspective! How about a Paradigm Shift 2.0 podcast with ChatGPT authored episodes? We set the premise, AI does the prognosis ??!
Well written Shriram. Absolutely about the context in how we use this tech, and it goes without saying the need for guardrails as we navigate the chain of conversation.
