It's Conference Season: What Goals are you Setting for Yourself?

This past weekend I attended my first ever Real Estate conference. As someone who has worked a booth and worked a room for over a decade in the Medical industry it felt funny to realize that I literally knew nobody!?

But, that doesn’t need to stop you from getting comfortable being uncomfortable! Here’s the thing about changes we have seen in the marketing landscape over the past decade…….I actually did know people. Yet, all of the people I knew were online friends! Business partners and colleagues I have established a relationship with online, and mainly on instagram to be honest!?

Imagine telling your great aunt who has most likely passed away that you grew your entire business on an online platform called X. I mean wow, there is power in that.?

The most common question people seemed to ask was this: What are you hoping to achieve this weekend? For myself it was two fold. Build my network, look for strategic growth ideas for my corporation with 10 shareholders.?

Guess what? I did both successfully. Why? Because I was very intentional with my approach. I engaged, I forced myself to move on from a conversation if it wasn’t serving me, and I intentionally sat with new people. I handed out cards and snapped QR codes and passed out my virtual business cards.?

As you prepare for conference season yourself you may want to take note of a few things I did in preparation for it. Slept, exercised and didn’t drink the week leading up and during the conference. Set clear measurable goals, take action even when it felt tiring to approach yet another new person.?

And the key to all of this is of course: Follow up!! The easiest way to stand out from a crowd is to follow up with that person!?

Now that we are back to regular programming, I am catching up on emails and setting goals for next season. Goals like being selected to be a speaker on stage at next year's conference! Why, because I feel that it is critical for Real Estate investors to approach their portfolios as a business and learn early on how to manage that business effectively!?

Did you see that I am hosting a workshop next week? I am going to help you build out your client/investor journey! No long boring presentation, followed by action steps you don’t take?because you are too busy. We are going to dive right in and map it out for your unique business. Come join us!?

I’ll be on the stage next year, will I see you there??

Best in business,

Meghan
