The automotive revolution is speeding up in all areas of change: EV' s, ADAS, AI, robotics, connected & autonomous cars, auto pilot, car/ride sharing, Geo-tracking, car buying, etc.

But what do you really mean and what do you really have......more and more of the same old, same old special interest technology overload and misdirection.

At the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit most vehicles are changing but not necessarily in the right way. Put aside all the hype and bling and what do you really have.....more overpriced and over complicated vehicles to extract more and more money from the customers....some simple POV observations in my humble opinion that don't sit well with the real global market, the customers and the environment.

You decide if it's the Price is Right show or the Price is Wrong show.

Wrong again, the 2018 truck of the year is the Lincoln Navigator with a base price of $72,500 and if you like it with some of the luxury options that are available for it, try and digest the price around $90,000.

Another example and never mind the high prices... is that the U.S. automakers are unveiling new diesel pickup trucks even as diesel sales have fallen sharply since Volkswagen AG's 2015 diesel emissions scandal.

General Motors said at the Detroit auto show it would offer a diesel Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in 2019 and now offers diesel versions of its Equinox, Cruze, Colorado, Express and medium- and heavy-duty trucks.

Overall U.S. light-duty diesel sales fell 19 percent in 2017 to 94,810, according to hybridcars.com, and accounted for less than 1 percent of U.S. vehicle sales. Nearly half of U.S. diesel sales were Ford Transit diesel vans.

Ford Motor Co plans this spring to offer a diesel engine version of its best-selling F-150 pickup truck. In July, Fiat Chrysler won approval from federal and California regulators to sell 2017 diesel vehicles. It also faces many law suits from diesel vehicle owners.

Last year, the Justice Department sued Fiat Chrysler, accusing it of illegally using software to bypass emission controls in 104,000 diesel Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Ram 1500 trucks sold since 2014. I guess we haven't learned anything from the German Auto makers who have already made the shift away from diesel.

The middle class has been disappearing in America and their wages have been stagnant for the last 40 years while the vehicle prices have increased by 10x, 20x, 30x, 40x, etc...

They are so conditioned and use to dealing with low volume unit sales that they plan on it and adjust the highest possible price points to the vehicles to try and make up the difference.

Nobody in automotive knows how to make money with electric vehicles, either by design to protect their entrenched ICE business and hedge their business bets or just out of lack of automotive intelligence/experience and lack of true innovation and producing superior automotive value for the poor and middle class.

We want to see more Automotive Companies show Auto Intelligence and Stop Trying to go after the small 2% high end market with the high profit margins.

To the Contrary...What the Automotive World needs is Simply Smarter Mobility Solutions for Everyone. What about the other 98% of the automotive global market that can never afford these kind of Short Sighted Super Luxury Cars.

REAL & DEEP SIMPLICITY IS WHAT IS NEEDED TO BE PROFITABLE.

For many Global Automotive Manufacturers today to really and truly be profitable, sustainable and survive.......... they have to produce a Global vehicle that can satisfy the Needs of the Many (Global Mass Markets Customers instead of the few Specialty High End Customers that they always target and try to satisfy).

Today, You have to be producing a Global Vehicle..... Selling Tens of Millions of Vehicles instead of just Selling a few Thousand or Tens of Thousands of Vehicles.
