It's Big River Watch weekend!
Trent Rivers Trust
Together, for healthy and natural rivers in the Trent catchment.
?? Big River Watch is back for another exciting weekend of citizen science
Our rivers are struggling. Insidious pollution and centuries of working against, rather than with nature, mean that our rivers now only hold a fraction of the life they could.? With no river in good condition in the Trent catchment and beyond, things aren't looking good for our cherished rivers.? ?
You can help!
Join us for the Big River Watch by the Rivers Trust from 3rd-6th May and be part of the solution in three easy steps:
Together, we'll gather vital data on everything from wildlife sightings to pollution.? The survey will also ask you to reflect on the way being by the water makes you feel. So take a moment to invest in your own wellbeing and that of your river.
You might find they're connected after all!
Is this your first go at citizen science??
Not to worry - last year, 60% of the 5,000+ participants joined for the first time.? With handy in-app guides at your fingertips, you can identify pollution as well as common wildlife species in your river.? Here in the Trent, we've had incredible kingfisher damselfly and otter sightings and perhaps you'll be lucky, too?
What will we do with the data?
We know that rivers matter to people and your contribution will help us build a nationwide picture of river health.?We will use the data input into policy and push for funding to restore the Trent and its tributaries.
