It's "Best Companies to Work For" Season! Greater Seattle Area 2025 Edition!

Some of my classic advice amid all the "Best Employers," "Most Admired Companies," and "Best Places to Work" lists...don't forget to compare notes.

There are lots of lists to choose from. Fortune has a bunch of lists. Forbes has their list. LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Built In, and GeekWire have their lists.

However, remember the regional rankings.

Over the years, I've nudged many clients to check (and double-check) Seattle Business Magazine's "Washington's Best Companies to Work For" lists. In 2025, it's the 35th year they've been ranking. How time flies.

Even if you're not in career search or job search mode, it's not a bad idea to be aware of great organizations. Maybe (just maybe) the quality of the employer should influence a career pivot?

So how the heck did these employers win? Do all the employees get flying cars? Spa days? Unlimited time off? Treadmill desks? Work-from-home privileges? Free continuing ed? Personal trainers? Nap rooms? Pickleball parties? Bananas paychecks? Sabbaticals?

Maybe it's all about culture? Hint: culture matters.

To make things easy, I've mapped out the winners. The large company winners. The medium company winners. The small company winners. All the winners!

And I know you're all thinking the same thing: "Hey John, thanks for the list, but can you map out all 43 winners so I can easily access their LinkedIn profile and website?" OK, you don't have to yell. I hear you.
