There is nothing cool about starting your own business. All what they told you is a lie. You keep hearing about the startup here which just secured a $$$million funding or the business which just got to million customers or whatever the media keeps hyping.
No one tells you about the sleepless nights or even the nights you are actually half asleep and half awake because months after launch, you still only got a single registered customer. Nobody tells you about the family and the friends who keep on telling you to forget all that dreamy stuff and find something real doing. Building your own business is draining. It drains the hell out of you mentally, it drains the life out of you physically, it rips you apart emotionally and it pounds you down with no mercy. Everyday is a new challenge. It's not about being cool, it's not about getting up one morning and putting the CEO title on profile.
You find all kinds of people walking around proclaiming to be entrepreneurs, startup CEO s and so many other flashy titles sitting comfortably in someone else's a salaried job! Entrepreneurship is a mindset, it's your life. It's not like some accolade you drop on your head to look cool. You need to be willing to go against the very fundamental roots of the standard of living in your society. It's a journey riddled with doubts, tears, migraines and when you are in an environment which naturally drops your motivation, your problems are compounded.
It goes beyond the basic "identify a need and fill the need" because that is just the baby step transition into the red torment that awaits you. When you got to juggle numerous hats and every angle of your business. It almost feels unfair when you see how much your mates are making progress in their careers and you only have an acute headache to show for it. This is just the smallest of the untold horror stories of entrepreneurship and guess what.. you are so neck deep after some years that quitting even becomes a no go area. When you get to the point where quitting is the worst decision you could make, then you know you are damned, because anything in your life you can't walk away from becomes your shadow, you either make it work or die trying to get away from it.
It's not about being cool and fly. It's about sheer pains and needles. I did tell you.
