It's been a while but for good reason -it's worth a read!

I love writing articles and creating content, connecting with others through our word is so powerful but, and I can only speak for myself, I get caught in the loop of the narative of those parts of me (IFS speak) that block me. Don't get me wrong those parts of me are trying to protect me with statements such as "seriously, no one has any interest in anything you have to say", "you don't have a degree, sure your span of language is not that of someone you would see here", "you are making a show of yourself", "all this is going to do is confirm how pathetic you are", "jesus you are desperate for attention, is it any wonder no one loves you"

Before I continue please know I did not write the above to evoke sympathy, in fact quite the opposite. I am writing this for anyone who in any way resonates with words like this or a sense that they have at least narratives such as the above that play out in their mind, that they know are blocking them and if we are being honest have a huge impact on our lives and can be really detrimental.

My internal dialogue and pain brought me to addiction, suicidal ideation and contemplation, self abandonment, people pleasing, intrusive thoughts, disordered eating, self harm, paranoid episodes, isolation, complete disregulation and the never ending need to pretend that none of it was happening (wearing that mask is the hardest).

4 years ago I started my journey, I mean properly started my journey of healing and what a ride it has been. I have spent the last 18 months in the deepest of containers and I continue to do so as I specialise in my training and go deeper in my healing. 48 years of trauma is not healed in a couple of months and anyone who tells you it does is lying to you. Also anyone who tells you they are healed is also lying to you (don't get me started on the amount of wounded healers out there! That does not come from a place of judgement as they are doing the best they can with what they know but always ask someone who is working with you what internal work they have done, they will either light up or squirm).

The reason why clients work with me is because of the journey I have been on, what I have managed to truly overcome. How each of my clients inspire me to go deeper on my training. Curiosity is one of my core values and it guides me to my trainings and those that i explore the depths of my trauma with. Most of the teachers I respect have you go on the journey first so you can become a truly embodied facilitator (image we brought that ethos into universities).

Creating safety is the most important thing I do, for a lot of us true safety is not something we know - our bodies have never felt safe. Safety is about being in the presence of someone else and feeling that it is truly ok to be you, to be vulnerable, to share your story, to not fear judgement or even worse it not being believed. I take my clients deep in this work. Truly understanding the nervous system, how our mind works, understanding Self and all our parts. Understanding that the mind creates our world but before our mind creates the world, the world creates our mind. Unpacking and understanding the mind our world created (from birth to about 7). Witnessing all our compensatory mechanisms and how hard our parts have worked to keep us safe.

What i will confirm is that there is no short cut in this work, there is no 5 steps, no list of affirmations, no magic to manifesting, no one person who is going to give you the answers - trust me I have spent a fortune on coaches, books, podcasts and hours lost trying every which way! As Byron Katie says "the only way round is through". Its through feeling we heal.

A genuine facilitator will support you and take you on a journey of you finding all the answers within you. Of bringing you to a place of 'meeting you', maybe for the first time in your life.
