Prevent needless pain from heavy backpacks
1) Make sure your child's backpack weighs no more than 5 to 10 % of his or her body weight.
2) The backpack should never hang more than four inches below the waistline.
3) A bigger backpack is not necessarily better. The more room there is, the more a child will carry and the heavier the backpack will be.
4) Wide padded straps are important. Non-padded straps are uncomfortable and will dig into your child's shoulders.
5) A heavier backpack will cause your child to bend forward in trying to support the weight.
If your child starts to experience back pain from a heavy backpack you may want to talk to the teacher and contact your chiropractor. At Atlanta Chiropractic Life Center we care about families, and we do not want any child to suffer from back pain. Call us today (404) 875-3020
