Its an App powered Economy !!!

Its 10:00 am and my smart watch notifies me of an encrypted message from a friend and before my watch is able to transcend the display into a holographic image in front of me, I am shaken by a loud thunderous rumbling of blasts across my apartment. I am thrown out of my gait and fall on the mulberry colored sofa. Not knowing, what just took place, I turn my eye towards the watch and as I am about to press on the aluminosilicate glass panel of the watch to read the message when I hear sounds of war cry from outside.

The windows and devices in my Smart Home force closes amidst loud noise and gun fire. The Next sensor just falls off the wall. All of a sudden, the building starts to shake and my beloved Mac Book Just falls off the table.

Out of fear and not knowing what is happening, I look out of the window to see Drones in all shapes and sizes flying around and firing at will at everything possible. My enemies on the other side of the street have unleashed Drones and all are being operated by apps on their smartphones; not to lose out in the battle, I speak into my watch, which starts my G Max (Ammunition Drones). She makes a looping thunderous noise as she starts her engine and barges out of the window as if to signal the arrival of Tomb Rader. I take cover and use another messaging app to inform my house mates to join the battle…

Even in such a made up apocalyptic scenario, one thing empowers all – Applications.

Today, whether you’re a business entity, a human or for that matter a cat, all have some kind of apps built for. The Applications ecosystem have empowered our lives in ways which a few years ago was not possible.

Today there are more than 25 Billion Apps which exists across platforms and organizations like App Annie’s business revolves on Application Analytics per se.

As a journalist, I am always looking out for new story ideas and in this process, smartphones and the Apps on them have helped me immensely. Not only that, my day to day life revolves around apps completely. (This feels so less human).

Having said that, the WAVE Alarm Clock app wakes me up in the morning or rather tries to wake me up at the designated time. All I have to do is flip my phone over and sleep again for some time. As I am trying to get my lazy self out of the bed, I check the weather using AccuWeather. After that, I use apps like Sworit and Runtastic for my daily fitness regime. Both are really good apps in terms of exercises that will help you in your fitness efforts in the morning. Although there has been no significant change in the way I function, but these two apps are really good in terms of at least starting the process of getting oneself into shape.

Keeping all that fitness behind me, I decide to check my daily scope of work with a routine tracker app called Any.do which is immensely powerful. It lists out my To Do Lists for the day and will keep on buzzing till I have not finished the task.  ( that buzzing is sometimes annoying though )

And before I leave for office, I quickly manage to get my daily dose of news on my Iphone 6 through apps like News 360, The Verge App, Economic Times App, Flipboard and Twitter to name a few to get my news updates for the day.

During office hours, I use many collaboration apps like Mango Apps, Pocket, Google Keep and Evernote to name a few to get my work done.  These amazing apps help me take notes, make project plans and share it with fellow colleagues as and when I like.

Oh wait, in between all of these, my attention span keeps going for a toss and I end up checking Facebook, Twitter or Instagram in between.

My work also revolves around a lot of videos and I end up using Pinnacle Pro and iMovie a lot to edit out videos and all of them on the mobile. Not only that, for shooting good quality videos on a smartphone, I use ProCam App along with basic the iPhone camera app which shoots videos at 60fps.

With work halfway done and as we slowly approach lunch hours, apps like Swiggy, Zomato Order, FreshMenu help me in getting food delivered to my office doorstep every single day.

With hard deadlines to be met, music becomes a very important asset and apps like Apple Music or Musixmatch keeps me in the grove all the time.

After work hours, getting around the city has also become easier due to some great cabs services being offered at our fingertips through apps like Uber, Ola or Meru Cabs. Moreover, on days, when we decide to go out for movies, even ticket bookings happen on an app called BookMyShow.

Then on days, when I decide not to go out anywhere, there are so many apps like Udemy or Coursera to indulge in various Online Courses. Most of the courses are offered at great discounts at this sites.

There are many other apps like Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, ebay and Aliexpress for shopping. The folks running these apps give away products at great prices and since they are all on mobile as apps, shopping becomes all the easier.

And guess what, I wrote this piece on the Microsoft Word app on the iphone.
