It’s not always fabulous

As I sit down and begin reflecting on the past week, I notice how excited I am to begin the next week, looking forward to a virtual reality coaching experiment, training observation, first recording of Fan the Flames podcast/TV, and a day of catch-up conversations. I have even managed to keep my Fridays free too.
However, in my reflections, I have to face my down days as well as my upbeat ones too. Monday left me feeling low and in a spiral of self-doubt. The fact was nothing much had actually happened, just a few negative thoughts that managed to grab hold and do their thing.?
What’s funny is, being a coach and into personal development, I kinda knew what to do, but it was just getting started that was the sticking point! Luckily I was able to call on my coach, who did what she always does so well….asked a few powerful and reflective questions, helping me to kick start my engine.?
After some reflections, journaling, and a good old-fashioned walk in nature, I began to turn things around, while at the same time not denying my feelings. Sometimes we are so quick to move on that we don’t take the time to sit with our emotions, our thinking, and feelings. It’s important to remember that they are part of us, both the “good” and “bad”. And that it’s OK to have a bad day - or even days, and then it’s all about what you do next.

And next for me was setting up my new LinkedIn group for coaches to connect, joining a Coaches Campfire bookclub, some amazing coaching sessions, some fabulous supervision. And the week ended with a night out at a drag club! Also, a lovely Sunday afternoon walking with my partner in crime along the old North London railways, including coffee and cake of course, before making a big cauldron of bubbling warming winter soup.?
So there was a massive turnaround, but I am grateful for the downward spiral too, a reminder for me that there is no perfection, we are all a work in progress, and that even though things can get you down, there is always a choice in how we deal with it.
Onwards and Forwards.?
