It's All About The Voice!
CR38IVES - The No.1 Networking Group for Creative Professionals
CREATE. CONNECT. GROW.
Do people keep on telling you that you have a lovely voice, and that you should become a Voiceover Artist?? It certainly sounds like an exciting career - and quite easy, too! Getting paid just to talk sounds too good to be true.??
A Voiceover Artist, also called a Voice Actor, is a professional performer who uses their voice to portray characters or provide information to an audience.? Unlike screen actors who appear on screen, voice actors only use their voice to act out or read a script.? Examples of voice-over work include video games, commercials, audiobooks, apps, e-learning courses and even public service announcements.?
But if you want some of the pieces of that lovely easy-peasy pie, how do you go about it?? Multi award-winning Voiceover Artist SARA STARLING gets asked that a lot!?
“If I had a pound for every person who has asked me this question, I'd have a lot of pounds!” she says.? So, she’s now decided to write a blog about it – with all the information that any aspiring Voiceover Artist needs.
If you want everything to be sugar-coated, maybe it’s not for you.? But if you want honest answers, then hop over to Sara’s website.? Sara says she wishes she’d had this sort of info when she first started out!??

We’ll be chatting with Voiceover Artist and Voice Actor ANTHONY HEWSON this coming Wednesday the 17th of April @11am BST!
Anthony is a full-time Voiceover Artist and Voice Actor who works primarily from his home studio in the south Cambridgeshire countryside. He's been a finalist for 16 voiceover awards 16 times, and has recorded in most voiceover genres, from commercials and branding videos to audio dramas, videogames and ‘voice of god’ gigs. ?Before becoming a voiceover artist, Anthony was a freelance copywriter and editor for more than a decade.
You can watch the livestream chat with Anthony on the CR38IVES LinkedIn page, the CR38IVES Facebook page, and the CR38IVES YouTube channel. We’ll be answering comments live on LinkedIn during the chat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d69RhaxpBJI
If you missed last week’s chat with the Artist and Illustrator SHANEL RICHARDSON, then you can catch up on the CR38IVES YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/VWWaBPA35h4
Originally from Kent in the UK, and now living in Sweden, Shanel delivers visuals for her international clients’ projects through the use of illustration, animation and 3D.? To date, she has illustrated five published books, worked on over 80 creative projects, and completed over 350 commissioned pieces of art.

British Voiceover Artist LIZ DRURY will be one of the speakers at the ONE VOICE CONFERENCE being held in London from the 15th to the 19th of May.?
“My presentation is entitled 'Just Keep Talking', and is all about the importance of keeping in touch with your clients,” says Liz.? “I'll also be sharing my experience of contacting former clients, to find out why we hadn't worked together for a while.”
Actually, Liz says her fears were groundless.? She thought maybe her usual clients had not booked her recently because they just didn’t like her anymore – or had found better options, such as AI instead of real voiceover artists...
“Neither turned out to be the case, and in fact the responses I got gave me quite a lot of hope for the future!” she says. ?
We won’t be giving away the punch line here, but if you're a Voiceover Artist and you're attending One Voice, go and listen to Liz’s talk!
Some of the events at the One Voice Conference will also be held online, so check out the website to see what’s happening
