ITS ALL ABOUT TIMING ACROSS THE GLOBE

This weekend we loose an hour in the UK, which miraculously comes back in November. We have been doing this in the UK for 102 years. Why? To make better use of sunlight hours of course, that’s why we call it British Summer Time. Yippee, summer is coming!
When does it happen in the UK? At 2am on Sunday! So, if you are planning on being in a night club, don’t be surprised if you leave feeling fresher than usual. However, when you wake up in the morning, don’t be surprised if you are feeling ‘wow this is way too early’!
Are you aware the clocks do not changed across the globe this weekend? Don’t be caught out. Some countries do not change their clocks at all and some change them at different date!
Here is what Wikipedia says… Most areas in North America and Europe, and some areas in the Middle East, observe daylight saving time (DST), while most areas of Africa and Asia do not. In South America, most countries in the north of the continent near the equator do not observe DST, while Paraguay and southern parts of Brazil do. The practice of observing daylight saving time in Oceania is also mixed, with New Zealand and parts of SouthEastern Australia observing DST, while most other areas do not.
Do not panic, if you have an international meeting or interview coming up, or cant work out which of your clocks changed automatically and which didn’t, you can usually find the accurate time on the internet. I tend to use https://www.worldtimeserver.com/meeting-planner.aspx, and put the date in for the meeting at the top. I also love this site because you can add multiple time zones onto it. We have been doing this for the past couple of weeks at Think Global Recruitment, to ensure everyone has their interview at the planned time.
Talking about time, I think its time for the weekend. Have a great one all! Me, I love my weekends and my weekdays. Always Improving Lives! Abigail
PS -interesting facts; the original idea of changing our clocks came from the American Politician, Benjamin Franklin in 1784. However, the idea made it to the UK in 1907 when Coldplay Singer, Chris Martin’s Great, Great Grandfather, a builder called William Willett thought it was a good idea too and then it tool until 1916 to be implemented.
