Its not ALL about Teams... but they help

With Covid making us all slaves to video meetings Zoom and Teams have really taken off, offering instant meetings without the logistics of actually getting there. Teams also facilitates cooperation in other ways and it was inevitable that talking, via a phone call, would become part of this offering. Sure enough Microsoft have added some basic phone system functionality to their suite. However the trouble is with that b word. Basic...For many organisations this will be adequate for their needs but what about those who want to use handsets? What about more advanced call handling? This is where using a third party TAAS (Telecoms As A Service) provider comes into its own.
TAAS or hosted telecoms offers all the options. A desk phone, a cordless, an app on mobile or desktop or tablet, or Teams, to suit the individual on a case by case basis. Road warriors? Teams. Semi peripatetic wanderers, teams or a soft phone and maybe a desk phone in the office. However it also brings in to play better or higher end call routing features, and good call routing can make a company just as much as poor routing (and we have all suffered an interminable queue or impenetrable auto attendant haven't we) can wreck it.
TAAS generally includes other things such as call recording on a user by user basis, screen pop of most online databases and integration with the major CRM platforms as well as a truly granular approach to your needs so before condemning your organisation to a solely Teams environment, have a detailed look at what you need rather than what is offered. By all means present this to Microsoft but also to a TAAS provider such as ourselves.
It could very well make all the difference
