It's All About Me!

Hello There, and welcome to my first professional article written as a Profitability and Growth Advisor! I thought I would share a little background about myself so you can know a little about me before I start sending out endless articles, request connections, and begin developing a relationship with you .

Have you ever felt that all you are doing is existing in life? Asking yourself, why we are here? What is my purpose? Wanting your life to count for something other than earning a paycheck week after week and at the end of it all, retiring, and then dying? I mean, what’s the point? For years I for one reason or another felt unfulfilled. Something was missing but I did not know or understand what it was. I was on a lifelong search for my why! I want my life to have meaning, make a difference, help others…

My career in the accounting field started when I was 17 years old learning the basics of accounts receivable. As I mastered each related task, I was given new tasks in the office. Eventually, I learned all the basic accounting functions and as it turns out, I am pretty good at it.

I pretty much did my steps through life backwards; at least as far as the old fashioned view point goes. I graduated high school, and when I was 20, I got pregnant with my daughter, and her dad and I got married. When my daughter was 10, I decided to go back to school. I was tired of being paid peanuts and being what I considered a nobody.

At that point I was a single mom working a full time job as an accountant and going to school at night online so I could be home. My daughter was a 4.0 student so she was happy to sit and do homework together. It’s how we spent many weekends. It was our bonding time. We had fun too!

In 2012, I finished up my Bachelors of Science in Business Management and Accounting Degree. In 2011, I opened up my accounting practice; Integrity Accounting & Tax LLC.

In 2013, I made a job change and went to work for the State of WA as an Assistant Auditor. I spent a short time in the role due to a medical problem and was forced to take a voluntary medical leave of separation. It was at this point that I decided to take my business full time and I did it. In 90 days, I had replaced my annual income working part time. In 2016, a friend contacted me asking for help at the manufacturing facility she worked for. I was hired on as Controller and I worked there for 3.5 years. While serving in this role, I finished my Master of Accountancy degree at University of Phoenix.

A couple of months ago, I made the decision to move forward in my career going back to working for myself. Close to the same timeframe, I was scheduled to attend a webinar I signed up for. I missed the webinar due to a schedule conflict and reached out to the person teaching. This lead me to the most profound conversation I had ever had!

As a result of a hour long conversation with Mike Solomon, I happily paid the fee to take the course he was offering. Honestly, at the end of the call, I really wasn’t 100% on what had just happened, but I know it felt peaceful choosing to move forward with Enlightened Business. 

This course was the answer to everything! It was what people refer to as their Awe Ha moment! Everything I had ever wanted in a career, as a human being, all quickly came into focus. My life long search for wanting to know what I am meant for, what to do with my life for it to truly have a meaning and purpose to me. I am going to serve others! Armed with college degrees, years of on the job experience, professional bookkeeper courses, QuickBooks courses, small business courses, endless books about business, I set back out on my own with a new vision for my business.

I am serving small and medium size businesses who want to take their businesses to the next level! I Donna Febus, am a Profitability & Growth Advisor! I am also an Accountant who loves helping business owners leverage the information in their financial reports to produce better results for their business. The numbers tell a story, my job is to interpret that story, so business owners can make more informed decisions, and more readily achieve their business AND quality of life goals.
