Over 1 million people have fled Ukraine in the past week, becoming refugees in nearby countries. Women, children, husbands, sisters and brothers are being murdered in the streets from snipers, shelling, bombs and missiles. This war is touching people that I personally know. It's possible that life as we know it may change in the very near future. I don't know what that would look like and it is anxiety provoking. At the same time, I am still making a choice to show up, work on my business, coach my clients and look for ways that I can help the Ukrainian people.

Last night my family and I made a donation to CNN- Impact Your World. Even a small donation could buy a meal, a train ticket, or medication for someone who really needs it. If you are feeling like me and you don't know what to do, please join me in donating.

Change of Plans!

2 years ago I was planning a live event to be held in Mystic, CT at a beautiful venue. I had just made the decision that I was ready to take my business to the next level.

I visited the hotel and when I saw the waterfall in the lobby, I knew this was the right place. I signed on the dotted line and reserved 3 days, committed to filling up hotel rooms, and gave a deposit.

Within 2 weeks, the first news of Covid-19 was being broadcast. I knew in my gut that this was going to be bad.

I called the hotel and spoke to the manager about postponing my event. He argued with me that I was overreacting and there was no reason why this event wouldn’t take place.?

I took a deep breath but made the decision to cancel the event. That meant I wasn’t spending anymore money on materials, team work, or promotions. I kept my cool and called the manager once a week to check in, letting him know that I still wanted to cancel.

It wasn’t until late April when he told me that he had been furloughed and yes the pandemic was, a "Force Majeure" (act of God), and I could postpone it.

I was talking with a lot of entrepreneurs back then and the level of worry and hysteria was rampant.

Some people closed their businesses. I didn’t want any part of that. Instead, I pivoted to offering all of my programs online.

The funny part about it is, it’s actually better for my business, my team and my family, not to mention, my bank account. (Live events are very costly and energy draining.) I am not saying I won’t do it sometime in the future but for now, I am staying calm in the storm.???

Inspiration Corner!

When the pandemic hit over 2 years ago, I found that I was really enjoying staying home. It reminded me of growing up in simpler times when we only went out to dinner to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, or when we were on vacation. We just did what we did with what we had.?

In March of 2020, at the beginning of the lock down, I saw ahead of me books and books and books, movies, crafts, baking and gardening, and took a huge sigh of relief.? Ahh! That’s what’s been missing in my life for the past 20 years. The freedom to just do all of these things and not have to “fit them into” the cracks.?

It’s March 2022 and I am incredibly tired of not going anywhere, not traveling or eating out.?

But here’s my epiphany:?

As the world opens up, I do want some of what I had before (like dinners out with friends, concerts, movies and travel) but not all of it, all the time.?

What appeals to me most is my downtime. By removing the “have to’s” I am able to choose more “want to’s”.
