In Tring we have a group of rugby loving folks of varying ages (and in my case dubious ability). Egg chasing for breakfast (ECFB) was started by a group of dads who dropped their kids off at swimming at silly o'clock on Saturday morning and had nothing to do for an hour. Several years on Mark Dolton has morphed into a club of 120+ people affiliated to Tring Rugby who play touch rugby twice a week.?
Last night was the season kick off sponsored by us - 3rd?year of the Horizon plate and in a close-run effort the Horizon Hustlers beat Machins Marauders, OLWTC Sommeliers and Miraveta Magic (also all superb sponsors of the club). And congrat's also to James 'Spond, James Spond' Beasant and Mike 'Dolph' Reimer for their Richard of the Day awards. Ably reff'd by legends Mike 'Longy' Stranders and Mike 'Hicksy' Hicks.

What makes ECFB great is the collection of humans that have a great time, support each other in all sorts of ways and give back to the community when the opportunity arises. Those of you who know me will also know that the Hospice movement is one of our chosen charities and fulfils a massively important role in the UK. Death & taxes is the joke - we have so many regulations around taxes but no national strategy regarding death - so something like 85% of their funding is driven by the Hospice themselves - not by any of the taxes we pay.
Why is this important? The reason Hicksy was reffing was that he is doing the Great North Run this weekend and the chance of Leachy cannoning into him was sufficiently high to need mitigation in a risk mgt world! Last year Hicksy's friend Neil died at the age of 41 at the Hospice of St Francis and his wife Liz and family want to raise ￡100k for the Hospice of St Francis to say thank you for the care he received while there. 3 years ago Neil ran the Great North run just before his diagnosis. If you are there or watching on TV look for a bunch of people in parrot pyjama's and think of Neil.
