It's a 3D world
We envisage a 3D energy world - decentralised, decarbonised and digitised and to make this a reality we continue to push focused initiatives across our Microgrid portfolio that put the customer FIRST and seek to address the 3 challenges of technology, pricing and regulation.
We were very pleased that our Minister for Energy the Hon Ben Wyatt MLA secured Government support for the roll out of this all important community based pricing initiative, and we were delighted to accompany him on a visit to Broome at which he publicly launched the initiative.
The launch is covered in an ABC News article published today
In essence, the pricing initiative seeks to build an alliance between customers and energy companies - pricing electricity to ensure that everyone wins in the new energy world - a fundamental driver of Horizon Power.
The trial builds on our advanced/smart meter infrastructure to price the peak and incentivise customers to work with us through changing consumption behaviour and deploying distributed energy resources (batteries, PV, heat pumps, and smart appliances) as their ongoing development and economics allow. Customers will be integrated into the electricity system in a way that allows them, through their smart phone apps and data analytics, to access and interpret real time data to manage their consumption and interaction with the system - a step closer to customers being able to experience the energy web anywhere, any time and with any device.

7 年Frank great article and implementation of a customer centric vision. Energy information to facilitate demand management is the core of the energy revolution. Empowering consumers to make choices in consumption and self generation is what the 'prosumer' craves. Imagine a world of engaged energy consumers and what that can achieve.
