ITIL Future: We are not competing with Cloud Computing/ AI but would be Complementing them!!!

A paradigm shift of IT has already begin and it would evolve more in coming 2-3 years. With the pace IT is moving towards Cloud, Automation & Roboctics Future of ITSM is at question?

Off late, has spoken with multiple people from ITIL world and tried to understand their views on this. Some say, people would loose their jobs, some ask to move from process oriented profile to some technical profile, few of them want to start their own business fearing that they won't be able to sustain.

I go by the view that 

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change."

Lets agree we are in Changing environment and if the IT industry which is our bread and butter is ready for it why cannot we also be ready for it. 

Rather than thinking that how ITSM would compete with Cloud or Automation lets put focus on how ITSM would compliment these technologies and if we start thinking on these line, we would be able to find a sweet shore(good profile) after this shift is over. 

There may be scenarios that Incident Manager, Problem Manager profiles gets ramp down but there would also be new Roles that also will come in-play. E.g Provision Manager, Cloud Broker etc..etc. IT service providers can leverage the potential of Cloud Computing to deliver robust offers but it also requires thorough planning and strategizing which ITSM is best at.

ITIL would act as accelerator in Cloud environment!!

The history of mankind is proof which tells that who adopted the changing things got survived and others became past. We as an ITans must learn / adopt the changing technologies for survival.

I still not able to understand that how Incident , Problem and Change Management role will be ramp down after cloud or AI is live. Any example will be more helpful

Interesting peek into what will be. Can you share more on the Cloud Service Management strategy?
