We have now introduced ITIL 4 online certification evening classes.
Discussions with several business organisations and their respective employees raised a number of factors, such as:
- Some employees found it difficult to get the required business approval to attend such courses due to the impact of being away from the workplace. These employees felt that this restricted opportunities for them to further develop.
- Some employees found when they did attend a course they were constantly interrupted with work-related emails and voicemails etc. and felt under pressure to respond at the first opportunity.
- Some employees found many courses were overwhelming when having to digest and retain the degree of information within 2-3 days. These employees would have preferred lessons to be spread over a longer period so that they can reflect and resonate in-between lessons.
- When asked about evening classes some employees said that they would like the option to back-class themselves if they failed the first' exam attempt or to reschedule due to unforeseen events.

- The business is more likely to approve such training without the need to be absent from the workplace.
- Work-related issues during an evening will be far less likely in view that such issues would have been managed during the normal working day.
- Students undertake learning topics in smaller bite sized chunks as opposed to cramming everything into 2-3 days.
- Students have the space in-between classes to reflect and verify at subsequent classes.
- Students can join as many evening class cycles as they wish within a 12-month period, or when both exam attempts have been used - whichever?comes first.
- Whilst these organisations were happy to fund such training the absence of employees introduced an array of logistical challenges, thus forcing the business to assign their employees to such training in singles’ which reluctantly dragged-out timescales regarding planned initiatives. The preferred option would be to shorten these timescales by the way of groups of individuals becoming certified at the same time and therefore, gaining business traction much quicker.
- Whilst these organisations recognise that such training provides a means to facilitate enhancing business values, it is equally recognised that such values also enhance employee personal development. Such professional qualifications could be compared with A-level qualifications in the education sector. Most organisations who fund such educational qualifications expect their employees to do this in their own time.

- The business can assign multiple employees on the same training course cycle, without impacting business operations and in turn, gain traction in terms of benefits much quicker.
