Before starting my studies at The Fashion Institute of Technology, I worked on my craft independently. Sewing Vogue patterns as a young child, and there wasn't any internet or YouTube at that time.?

So, anywhere I could learn important lessons I would need for school and my fashion career, I did. I entered fashion classes while in high school, and this way, I understood the basics of the flat pattern.?

I also knew the importance of fitting a sloper, and vogue patterns had a fitted dress similar to the five-piece sloper set. I remember making this dress out of gingham fabric to map the grainlines.?

Fast forward to going to FIT in NYC, we had to draft a sloper to our measurements early on. At that time, we struggled to make these generic math principles fit a body.?

I knew there had to be a better way!?

I always say, "I am a fashion designer that happens to be good at making patterns, not a pattern maker."?

There is a difference! Pattern makers think differently than fashion designers and are more technical in behavior.?

I specialized in Couture, so draping was my thing.?

I'm saying all this because things have changed! You have so much online, and I argued with my YouTube people not long ago to supply my slopers to everyone.?
