Here’s a good (inexpensive) item to have in your bug out bag and also in your home…
In fact, I have a huge box full of these, perhaps a lifetime supply.
And, while I was wandering around my storage room yesterday, I found even more.
I’m talking about Trioxane fuel bars.
These were created by the military and were originally used to heat up soldiers’ meals.
But, you can use these fuel bars to start a fire, heat a meal, boil water… pretty much whatever you need.
And, they’ll light in all types of weather conditions, which is why they’re so handy to have around.
I’ve used these on campouts before. Thankfully, I’ve never had to use them in any type of life or death situation.
But, because the ability to make a fire to cook food and stay warm is pretty darn important, I’d make sure and have several of these with you.
Each pack you buy contains 3 fuel bars and they don’t take up much space.
So, you can easily put several packs in your bug out bag or just fill a box in your house with them.
You can buy these online and most Army surplus stores carry them.
If you do order some, I’d give them a test when they arrive (like you should test all of your gear.)
You can light these fuel bars with a match, lighter, flint, and steel, etc.
Just be safe and don’t do it inside your house. (ask me how I know)
Ohh and one more thing before I forget. Each fuel bar can be broken up into smaller pieces such as thirds.
So, if you get a pack that contains 3 fuel bars, you can break them up and get a lot more uses out of them.
Enjoy your Friday night and this little nugget about Trioxane came from one of the most popular guides go online if should you have any interest:
Stay safe,
Thank you,
