Italy & Poland: Two Sides of Europe's Defense Coin

Much of the current discussion about European defense revolves around the positions of the "big three": France, Germany, and the UK. However, opinions in those other two major European powers, Italy and Poland, deserve more attention. They are both front-line states for EU-NATO security, and they both personify the two main operational priorities for European military cooperation: defending NATO territory in Eastern Europe, and intervening to stabilize conflict-racked countries to the EU’s South.

Moreover, if Italy and Poland developed a strategic consensus and acted accordingly, it would be a revolution for European defense. I explain why in a new blog post for Carnegie Europe. You can find it here.
