The Lampedusa Situation: A Call for African Self-Reliance
It is disheartening to see our African brothers and sisters, including Gambians, fleeing to Europe in search of greener pastures. This exodus, in my opinion, is a betrayal of our beloved continent and a shame for Africa as a whole.
I but also support the decision of now using gunfire against illegal migrants as ist a crime and must be defended.

Our people are leaving their homes, their families, and their communities behind to embark on perilous journeys across the Mediterranean. They are risking their lives in the hope of finding better opportunities in Europe. But what awaits them there? Punishment for illegal migration, exploitative labor conditions akin to modern slavery, and ultimately, deportation back home.
This is not the future we want for our people. It is a shame that our fellow Africans are resorting to such desperate measures instead of contributing to the development of our own nations. We need to change this narrative. We need to create opportunities here in Africa so that our people do not feel the need to leave.
I commend those who choose to stay and work hard for their communities. These are the true heroes of Africa. They understand that the path to prosperity lies not in fleeing our problems but in facing them head-on. They are the ones who will drive Africa's progress and ensure a brighter future for all Africans.
Let us all strive to be like these heroes. Let us work together to build a stronger, more prosperous Africa that can provide for all its people. Let us make Africa a place where no one feels the need to leave.
