SAP Italy: New FatturaPA version released!

On 28 February 2020, the Agenzia delle Entrate Italiana approved new standards for technical specifications for B2B electronic invoicing. The specifications include a new XML request for FatturaPA, which will be available from October 1, 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the current version 1.5 of the electronic invoices will be accepted until 31 December 2020. From 1 January 2021, the new version 1.6.1 will be mandatory and the old version 1.5 will no longer be accepted.

Besides the above-mentioned changes, the following changes have also been introduced:

• Type of document
• Nature of transaction
• Stamp – The indication of the amount of the stamp due becomes optional.
• Type of withholding tax and social contribution – additional types of withholding taxes and contributions are provided (e.g., Inps, Enasarco, Enpam).
• Amount – in the case of discount, the number of digits allowed has been increased.
• Type of payment – PagoPA means the payment has been included among the possible types of payment

When SAP will release the new version of the SAP Document Compliance solution for Italy?

According to SAP's official announcement, there is currently no fixed release date, but the solution should be available in October with the following features

• Incoming Flow: The new XML format will be applicable from October 1, 2020. From this date, e-invoices in the new format can be accepted and processed by SAP Document Compliance.
• Outgoing Flow: The SDI will accept the new format as of October 2020. We will start the test phase in October. After the test phase, we will deliver the solution and customers will be able to issue outgoing electronic invoices in the new XML format.
