Italy DIGI debuts FTTH in Turin.

DIGI Mobil Italy has launched its first fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services, initially for residents of selected apartment blocks in Turin only, providing symmetrical download/upload speeds up to 1Gbps over a proprietary network, reports MondoMobileWeb.

The Romanian-backed MVNO’s introductory FTTH offers – available from 6 December 2023 to 29 February 2024 – include a EUR10 (USD10.80) per-month 500Mbps tariff and a gigabit option costing EUR15, with discounts for taking DIGI mobile services (10% with one mobile SIM, 20% for two SIMs and 30% for three SIMs). Furthermore, the first three months of FTTH services are provided free-of-charge, and DIGI also provides a modem at zero cost to the user, whilst apparently not charging any service activation fee.

Potentially, DIGI will deploy FTTH in other cities including Milan, but such plans are unconfirmed thus far, with the operator yet to obtain the necessary local regulatory authorisations for FTTH rollouts in cities other than Turin.
