Italian Passion - British Steel

Today, many of my British Steel colleagues from the UK, France and Italy are enjoying a nice trip to Lecco, Italy.

Why? Well because today (31/3/17) we launch our new rail logistics hub in Italy.

So whilst the corks pop, speeches are made, and the applause subsides I guess I should probably explain what it is all about whilst they are enjoying the Italian hospitality.

Put quite simply, Italian rail networks, need reliable supply of long length high quality rails to help build and maintain reliable transport systems. To provide resilient rail supply we are working with local partners Brambilla Scalo to operate a long rail logistics hub in Lecco, Italy. The hub is able to both supply standard grade rails and also premium heat treated rails including our unique Stress-Free grades to supply long length rails for delivery to worksites as and when they are required.

Working in close partnership with many companies across Europe is essential to be able to offer such a facility and much hard work has been completed by partners involved including RFI, SNCF, Brambilla Scalo, Eurologistics and Mercitalia.

I have no doubt that this clear commitment to the needs of the Italian rail market will return benefits for all involved and after flurry of activity around the launch of the facility fades into memory, the lasting legacy of rails it supplies will help RFI with #BuildingStrongerRailways in Italy.
