ITA Airways launches New Delhi - Rome direct flight - See Details...
In a step towards the expansion of its network in the Asian market, ITA Airways announced the commencement of flights from New Delhi to Rome. The first flight departed from New Delhi to Rome Fiumicino at 03:50 am on Monday.
“We are happy to inaugurate today the ITA Airways’ Rome Fiumicino - New Delhi connections, the only direct flights between these two capitals” - said Emiliana Limosani - Chief Commercial Officer ITA Airways and CEO Volare.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi had a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday. Pierfrancesco Carino, vice president of international sales for ITA Airways, and Fabio Bigotti, country manager for India for ITA Airways, both attended the ceremony.
The airline claims that an Airbus A330 would operate the new route three times per week, leaving New Delhi on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. And every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, flights from Rome Fiumicino will depart in the opposite direction.
With the new intercontinental connection, ITA Airways is growing its presence in Asia while also improving its capacity to draw connecting passengers by utilizing the traffic between Germany, Spain, France, and India.

ITA Airways now has an interline agreement with Vistara for improved flight operations to and from India. Through this partnership, passengers on the ITA Airways trip from Rome to New Delhi can connect to other domestic and international flights from Vistara's hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
According to the airline, these include Bangkok, Kathmandu, and Dhaka on the international level as well as Mumbai, Amritsar, Kolkata, Bangalore, Kochi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chandigarh, and Dabolim in the Indian market.
The airline will fly to 51 locations in total over the course of the winter, of which 9 are intercontinental, 22 are international, and 20 are domestic. The firm hopes to use this to concentrate primarily on its long-haul expansion strategy with a number of significant new routes, including, in addition to New-Delhi, the newly established Tokyo-Haneda and the Maldives (Malé), which will be opened on December 17.
