IT4Innovations signed a contract for a new supercomputer
The new system, a successor to the Barbora supercomputer, will be installed in Ostrava later this year and will be supplied by Eviden. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art Intel Granite Rapids processors, which will enable users to significantly accelerate the solution of selected memory-bound tasks.
Artificial intelligence 'factories' are to be set up in Europe, and the Czech Republic will be a part of them
EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has selected the locations where the next EuroHPC supercomputers and so-called artificial intelligence factories will be built. One of the selected locations is Finland, led by the LUMI AI Factory consortium, which also includes the Czech Republic. Most of the funding will be used to purchase and operate the successor to the LUMI supercomputer.
Faster and more efficient visualisation of CFD simulation results
Researchers at IT4Innovations have developed an innovative method for visualising large-scale data from computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations using volume rendering and advanced visualisation tools. This method enables fast processing of CFD simulation results, which, combined with interactive photorealistic visualisation, opens up new possibilities for analysing CFD simulations.
What does Jakub ?ístek from the Czech Academy of Sciences use supercomputers for?
Jakub ?ístek is the Head of the Department of Constructive Methods of Mathematical Analysis at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics at the Faculty of Information Technology of the Czech Technical University in Prague. He has been using IT4Innovations supercomputers almost continuously since the supercomputing centre was founded.
IT4Innovations part of an initiative to boost productivity of supercomputing applications?
In late 2024, IT4Innovations joined the Virtual Institute – High Productivity Supercomputing initiative. Its members are developers of leading tools to improve the efficiency and performance of supercomputing applications for scientific computing. The initiative currently brings together experts from 16 institutions around the world.
