Data-driven IT-modernization helps organizations to improve efficiency, performance, and customer experience by enabling organizations to be more agile and responsive to change. As a result, costs get reduced and organization competitiveness increases. However, a plethora of challenges hamper the progression from old and slow systems to fast-adaptive, agile, data-driven IT-systems for firms. These obstacles pose as a clear indicator of the requirement to modernize a given legacy application. Here, advanced analysis, visualization, and computing technologies – such as exxfer – help identifying areas within a system landscape that requires modernization.
What role does the business model play in data-driven IT-Modernization?
Generally, the advance of digitalization acts as a catalyst for digital transformation. The consequence being new forms of cooperation between companies, new product and service offerings, and new forms of company relationships with customers as well as employees. This circumstance inherently influences a company’s business activities and business model.?
Specifically, companies must change their operating manner to adapt to the new dynamics of work; that being the number of activities that are performed per unit of time is continually growing.
As previously elaborated on, in this environment, monolithic centralized systems may have been a proper approach for companies in the past but have become more of a limiting factor in the present. Maintaining and evolving large and complex deployment, monoliths simply cannot keep pace with the dynamic and technical requirements of decentralized business domains.
Evidently, the ongoing technological development places the business in extremely intensive conditions and puts pressure on companies to reflect on their current strategy and explore new business opportunities.
These frequent changes and adjustments in the organization’s business model due to today’s economic realities and global interactions result in business model pressure. Particularly, business model pressure stems from problems such as feature development and user experience in existing features not being good enough to keep up with competitors, and emerging business opportunities not being leveraged fast enough to experiment and create new revenue channels. This is because overly complex and large monolithic systems are not an adequate answer for rapidly progressing business and technology.?

How exactly can business model pressure be avoided?
So, the basic premise is: The alignment of the business model and the IT-architecture strengthens the organization’s positions and benefits. Technological advancements enable business model changes, which requires a large degree of adaptability of and support by the IT-architecture. Here, one of the main difficulties is constant digital advance, and consequently the permanent change of a monolithic legacy IT-system that is required for it not to become a road blocker or obsolete. The constant evolution of an organization, procedures, business, and goals make it necessary to recompose and restructure traditional systems to accommodate to business model changes. However, a lot of firms struggle with IT-optimization because they do not know where and how to start. Here, data-driven IT-modernization creates value.
How does data-driven IT-Modernization achieve the alignment of business model and tech architecture?
Data-driven IT-modernization creates value by mapping business strategy to modern IT-capabilities and implementing required components and process models for a state-of-the-art high-performance IT-organization.
Here, our technology and approaches aim at establishing a flexible and modular system architecture by using answers to questions such as: Where does demand for change come from? How many requests for changes are being created over time? What kind of changes are required? Etc. When we combine such information with architectural and technical indicators we gather from deep system scans, we successfully enable customers to make use of emerging technologies and enable development teams to respond to changes faster and with higher quality.
Improving IT-system and business model alignment based on findings generated with our technology results in a flexible and more modular system architecture, increased IT productivity and satisfied customers. The ability to iterate fast, to build/measure/learn and to experiment provides the business with a significant competitive advantage.
