A new season of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating started last week in the French Alps. Courchevel hosted the event which saw bright young stars shine in what is the first of seven stops in this series which aim is to give the opportunity to junior athlete to compete at the international level as they develop into senior skaters.
The ISU Junior Grand Prix channel offers live and on demand access to figure skating fans to all seven events that take part from end of August to early October. Additionally, the top six skaters in each category qualify to the ISU Grand Prix Final where the Junior skaters share the stage with their Senior counter parts.
Courchevel brought in 1.4 M views on the first week. Over 11.6 M minutes watched and 15.8 M impressions round up the most interesting figures.
Fans from Japan and Russia make up almost half of the audience but the channel brings together people from all corners of the world.
As a product, the series becomes very attractive to sponsors as it’s one of the few sports with a predominant female audience, 25% of them between the age range of 18-24 years.
We will see how this numbers stack up as the series travels across the Atlantic for week 2 in Lake Placid, USA.
