Issue 8: Money "Wisdom"?

Issue 8: Money "Wisdom"

Love this growing community and look forward to adding more and more content for you!

As you can tell by the title a did a little play on words, "Wisdom" mainly because I am getting my wisdom teeth out today (11/9/22), cannot say I am excited but it did bring up some #moneymindset issues that I believe is an important lesson for all to hear and it is apart of my personal experience as well.

Some of you may know, most do not yet, but I was raised in Omaha, Nebraska. My family definitely does not come from money nor does it come from a financially literate standpoint either. I was raised by my mother (she had to deal with me by herself), whom I lost last year, RIP Mama, Love you. And so like many in this world, I didn't have much, wore the same clothes for many years, ate ramen, etc. (I will go into more detail as we go on because a lot of my #moneymindset and the transition to having a positive mindset has been from this experience). All and all I can relate to most people that have gone through a LOT. Which leads me to this ole Wisdom tooth removal thing.

This newsletter idea hit me when I went in to schedule my surgery, (they have to knock me out, not staying awake for 4 teeth to be yanked out of my mouth), and while speaking with the doctor for like 2.5mins (all that he had time for, apparently) he said "You're 33, wow, usually people get these done around age 15." Went on to comment how their wisdom teeth clients are usually teens.... Umm I am sorry sir, we may be in an affluent area but most people I know did not get wisdom teeth out in their teens because WE COULD NOT AFFORD TO DO SO! Now it is not his fault, he is going off statistics and assume has not had hardships...just a gut feeling. But it led my brain to go all the way back to my childhood. The childhood in which, we had phones turned off, water turned off, I cooked for my mother and I most nights as she worked 12 hour shifts, etc. Things we had to focus on were, food, shelter, and my schooling (selfishly only thing that mattered to me were sports, luckily led me to where I am now). So for us to think of my wisdom teeth, or really any dental, was an extra expenditure that we could not partake in routinely. I have never had braces, went to the dentist like every 2 or 3 years, just a luxury now that I am an adult, realize is important but still will never pick that over how I was raised. (See I still am growing #moneymindset as well)

My main take away and purpose for this slight rant but insight into my background is that just because you had been raised or are currently living in a situation where you cannot put your health (specifically wisdom teeth) in correct priorities that is OKAY. But recognize that it is a #survivalmindset which leads to a negative #moneymindset . What do I mean by this, if you are in survival mode (Was most of my life) when you finally become "successful" you will not feel successful you will still be surviving and not recognizing that you have made it and can relax. Your/My brain had gone long enough in that mode that now we miss the joy in being able to buy higher end meat (personal favorite of mine) or more target shopping (wife's personal favorite). To this day I still do not feel too much joy in being where I am at, yet I know we are in the top 10% in the world in regards to income or wealth whatever label you want to put on it. And that is because of where I am #mentally . Hence the whole reason for this newsletter, of #moneymindset is to help others and myself be not stuck in certain modes and let #money run our lives.

#money is important but not more important than our health and relationships, you may feel it is the only way to get you out of where you are and that is not 100% true. True #wealth comes from happiness and being able to live freely with out being tied down to something...i.e #money . Build your relationships, focus on your health (mental health especially) these will lead you down the path of positive #moneymindset if you need help reach out, rely on others and people they know. IF you are truly ready to have your #money be controlled by you and not let #money control you then, this is a very important step and that is to reach out to someone...WE are here to help you!

A lot of words in this issue, I hope that this gets to you all and understand that this is some raw emotion from me and I care to make others lives soo much better but the work never stops I have flaws and weaknesses and learn everyday, thus I can help you through your situations. That being said I am off to get teeth tore from my jaw...maybe laid up for a few days but I am here if you need anything.
