THE BREAKDOWN By Dan Norman
Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KO’s) vs Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KO's). Stevenson and De Los Santos will face off in a 12 round bout for the vacant WBC lightweight title, November 16th in Las Vegas.
Edwin De Los Santos, an explosive southpaw, was relatively unknown until he burst onto the scene with a TKO win over Jose Valenzuela. His power may make Shakur play it safe and turn it into a “pull back and counter” style of fight. We expect Shakur to use his lead right jab all night, finding opportunities to create distance and counter whenever Edwin takes risks exploding inside.
Shakur is not known as a power puncher, however, he is a very accurate puncher which will test Edwin's chin. Edwin has been on the canvas before so it's not far fetched to say that Shakur could stop him. In the end we believe Shakur will pick him apart using his superior boxing skills and secure the win. Our final prediction is Shakur Stevenson going home with the win by unanimous decision

BOXERS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
JESSY 'EL MAGO' MARTINEZ (15-0, 10 KO'S)
Jessy Martinez trains out of Outlaws Boxing Gym in Tarzana, California.
Empire Boxing Productions Head of Boxing Operations, Dan Norman caught up with Jessy this past week, check out the conversation below.
DN: What inspired you to start boxing and how old were you?
JM: I was bullied as a kid. It all started in elementary school and followed me all the way to 9th grade. One day after school, I was getting picked on by a 12th grade football player and although he didn’t hit me, it embarrassed me. I was 15 and I joined Outlaws Boxing Gym and ever since picking up boxing, I never got picked on or bullied again.
DN: What is your favourite aspect of boxing?
JM: The preparation part. You get a certain amount of time to mentally and physically prepare to be at your highest peak possible. For the most part, both fighters get the same amount of time. Showing the hard work on fight night is something I always look forward to.
DN: Who was your favourite boxer growing up?
JM: My favourite boxer was Miguel Cotto. I remember watching his first fight against Antonio Margarito, I had barely started boxing. I was just amazed by his slick defense and sharp punches. Although he lost that fight, I became a fan by how much heart he showed. I’ve spent my whole career watching his fights and training footage over and over again.
DN: Talk about some of the challenges you have faced coming up in the sport.
JM: The time away from family, the injuries sustained during training and having to seek fights without being signed to a promoter. My team and I have had to make every move on our own. We promote fights on our own, pay out of our own pockets just to receive opportunities in this fight game. It’s been a very bumpy road but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
DN: How has boxing changed your life?
JM: Boxing has made me a more confident person, it ended a bullying problem I had faced for many years. it has allowed me to travel out of the country to fight and meet many down to earth people in this sport. Boxing has also opened the doors for many business opportunities in my career and really given me everything I have today.
DN: Which comic super hero would make a good boxer?
JM: If I had to pick one it would be The Flash because he’d have enough speed to end fights in seconds. With that much speed, he’d knock fighters out cold.

FANTASY MATCH-UP By ChatGPT
Every week we ask the all-knowing ChatGPT who might win in a fantasy boxing match, and… it?…gets very specific…
THE MATCH-UP: BLACK WIDOW vs. HAWKEYE
ChatGPT: In a hypothetical boxing match between Hawkeye and Black Widow who wins?
Hawkeye is known for his incredible accuracy with a bow and arrow, exceptional hand-eye coordination, and peak physical condition. He is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, but his primary abilities lie in his marksmanship and archery skills.
Black Widow is a highly trained, skilled assassin, with expertise in various forms of martial arts, agility, and exceptional hand-to-hand combat abilities. She is known for her precision and effectiveness in close-quarters combat.
In a traditional boxing match, where the primary focus is on hand-to-hand combat, Black Widow would have a significant advantage. Her training and physical abilities make her a formidable opponent in such a scenario. She has more experience in close-quarters fighting and hand-to-hand combat.
Hawkeye's skills are more geared towards ranged combat and marksmanship. While he can hold his own in hand-to-hand combat, he might not be on the same level as Black Widow in this regard.
THE RESULT BLACK WIDOW - UNANIMOUS DECISION
