Issue 7 - Delivering High-Impact Coaching Sessions

Welcome back!

In the last issue, I shared my key tips for pricing your coaching services. This time, I’ll explain how you can deliver high-impact coaching sessions.

What makes a coaching session worth it? How can you leave a lasting impact on your clients??

To be honest, you can’t just wing your coaching sessions. Even though you may be an expert in your field, preparing each and every session is going to maximise the benefits for you and your client.

Preparation is key.?

Start by setting a clear agenda. Outline the main topics you’ll cover, the goals you want to hit, and any materials, tools or templates you’ll need.?

Having a structured plan gives your client a clear path to follow, which can help reduce anxiety and increase their confidence in the coaching process. For you as the coach, it helps you stay organised, use your time wisely, and show professionalism and dedication to the client.

It’s also a good idea to look over any notes from previous sessions. You can track progress and spot any areas that need a bit more love and attention.

Most business owners won’t want to admit or open up about their struggles straight away. To get the most out of each session, try to aim for open communication and active participation. Be patient, welcoming, and encouraging.?

?Here are a few tips:

  • Active listening: Pay close attention to what your client is saying without interrupting. It shows respect and helps you understand their needs better.
  • Powerful questions: Ask open-ended questions that get your client thinking deeply. Questions like, “What challenges are you facing?” or “How do you feel about your progress?”
  • Feedback: Give constructive feedback that’s specific. Point out their strengths and gently suggest things they can improve on. It’s all about helping them grow.
  • Tools and techniques: Use coaching tools like SWOT analysis, SMART goals, business plans, or visualisation exercises to drive the session. (Send me a message if you need access to any specific ones!)

Always take quick notes during the session that you can flesh out after or later on.?

The session might be over, but the work isn’t done yet! Use the notes you took during the session to collate all the important information.?

Then, shoot your client a summary email or message with all the key points, action items, and any resources they might need for the week ahead. This will keep the session fresh in their minds so they stay on track.

Feel free to regularly check in on their progress even outside of sessions. This will help you tweak your coaching strategies to better meet their needs.

You’re like their personal cheerleader and coach, all rolled into one.

Now it’s your turn to put these tips into practice.

Make a general agenda for a typical coaching session you might offer. Think about the structure, goals, and materials you would include to make your sessions effective and impactful.

Remember, a well-prepared session can make a huge difference in your client’s journey.?

If you have any questions, need coaching resources, or want help fine-tuning your services, feel free to reach out in my messages!
