The past couple of years we’ve thankfully seen thousands of companies announce new climate goals and ambitions. However, for many companies, when we scratch away at the plans, we don’t see the level of detail, accountability or specificity that one would expect with such large undertakings.

In her newly published op-ed piece Mindy Lubber, CEO and president of the sustainability non-profit Ceres, outlines why companies must approach their climate transition plans like any other strategic?business and investment plans. Mindy also highlights how transition plans are increasingly coming under the spotlight in 2023 and, based on their research, reveals where some companies are falling short.

Last week I highlighted that we have just published the latest issue of the Ethical Corporation magazine – a full-issue focus on how new climate tech is being utilised across several industries. To download your complimentary copy of the magazine, simply click here

Enel on the game-changing effect of the IRA

The inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is an historic landmark in US law-making that is estimated to grow the US renewables market from $64bn in 2022 to nearly $114bn by 2031, and there'll be other industries that are indirectly and positively impacted by the pass of that law. It's critical that business take advantage of this opportunity and capitalize and pursue investments in manufacturing, renewable energy production, infrastructure deployment and so much more.

Watch Reuters in discussion with Marcus Krembs, Head of Sustainability at Enel North America as they explore in depth how the IRA already is and will continue to provide certainty for growth for investors, developers, suppliers, and corporates, and how it will influence business on a global scale on the 1.5°C pathway.
