Issue 5 - Attracting and Retaining Business Coaching Clients

Welcome back!?

In the last issue, I shared the best ways to market your business coaching business. Now, we’re getting specific. This issue is all about how to attract and retain business coaching clients.?

Even the best business strategies won't work without a steady stream of clients.

Let's explore how you can not only find your ideal clients but also keep them coming back.

To attract clients, you need to know exactly who you’re looking for. After all, success for any business comes from having a niche.

Think about your expertise and who can benefit most from your coaching services.?

What industries do you specialise in? What problems aren’t being solved in the world today that you can help with??

Once you have a clear picture, it's time to reach out to them.

When I started my business coaching, I had zero customers and absolutely no network of small business owners (my target market). But I knew I cared deeply about people and was willing to work hard. I built my network from scratch, knowing one day they’d turn into clients.?

I backed myself!?

Make people know you exist. Go to as many industry events as you can and join professional groups where your potential clients might be.?

Social media is equally important. Post on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram — any platform you can make a name for yourself within your target market. Make it loud and clear who you are and what you’re offering.?

The people you connect with may become your clients or refer you to others in the future. View every connection as a step to getting a client.?

Now, let’s talk about what you can offer. Your messaging should speak to the specific needs of your target market.?

Offer personalised coaching plans that address individual client needs. Whether they're small business owners, corporate managers, or non-profit leaders, communicate how you can address their specific pain points.

What benefits will clients gain from your services? What results can you bring to them??

And be flexible. Offer different packages like one-on-one coaching, group sessions, and workshops to cater to different preferences and budgets.

Figure out what will make you irresistible to your ideal client and start communicating that.

Once you have the clients, you have to work to keep them!!?Here are some ways to get them to stick around:

  • Keep in touch with your clients through regular updates, check-ins, and follow-ups.?
  • Make it a point to ask them what you can do better as their coach to help them more effectively.
  • Show your appreciation by sending a gift for their birthday or any other special occasion.
  • When your client hits their target, celebrate their success with a lunch outing or drinks.
  • Share valuable content throughout the week so they know you're always there for them, like some useful resources, insights, motivational quotes and support.?

Show your clients that you are genuinely invested in their success.

To put these strategies into practice, make a comprehensive client engagement plan. This plan should outline 3 things:

  1. How you’ll make the first contact with potential clients
  2. A follow-up system to nurture leads
  3. A plan for ongoing engagement to maintain strong relationships and encourage them to keep coming back.

A client engagement plan will keep you focused on attracting and retaining clients effectively.?

If any of this sounds too complex or time-consuming, feel free to contact me. I’ll be happy to help and guide you!?

Stay tuned for the next issue, where I’ll explain the right way to price your coaching services.
